All of our Dentists at Stanley Dental Practice are experts in repairing broken or chipped teeth to achieve a natural finish to your smile. Using the latest technology, we can help you choose the best treatment for your teeth to restore your beautiful natural smile.
At Stanley Dental Practice we offer both composite and amalgam fillings to replace part of a tooth that has been lost. Fillings are applied to small developing cavities to restore your tooth back to its normal shape and prevent any further decay from occurring. By closing the gaps, this prevents bacteria from forming on the tooth and preserves their natural health in the least invasive way. Fillings are a lasting preventative solution that far outweighs a root canal treatment which may be required if you suffer from extensive decay.
Types of fillings available:
There are 2 main materials that our dentists use to fill in your tooth:
Silver (amalgam) fillings
These are durable but due to their distinctive colour, are usually only used on your back teeth.
Composite resin fillings
This is a type of plastic that is used to match your natural tooth colour making the filling less visible and provide a more natural looking finish.
Your dentist will be able to advise on the best treatment bespoke to you.
Inlays and Onlays
If you have damage to a tooth that cannot be fixed with a filling to close the gap, our experienced dentists at Stanley Dental Practice can fit an inlay or onlay to cover the damage and restore your tooth to its natural looking finish. An inlay sits inside your tooth, while an onlay is fitted to the outside of it and is usually used to build up any area of tooth damage or fracture.
Onlays and inlays bridge the gap between a small filling and the need to cover the tooth entirely with a crown in a way that maintains all or most of your current tooth structure. They also stop decay from forming before it develops into something more serious. Like fillings, both inlays and onlays are made from porcelain or composite resin to blend in naturally with the rest of your teeth

There are many reasons why a crown could be fitted to improve the look and health of your teeth and our experienced dentists at Stanley Dental Practice are here to advise you on the best treatments available to restore your natural smile.
A Crown is a carefully fitted sleeves that sits over an existing tooth to protect it from further damage and to improve the look of your overall smile and can last anywhere between 5-15 years if properly maintained. Crowns can hold cracked teeth together and support bridges as well as cover discoloured teeth to restore your natural smile. It can also be placed over a worn down tooth (perhaps due to grinding) to prevent further damage from occurring. A crown may also be fitted where there has been a substantial amount of tooth decay and there is a large filling or a root canal treatment with not enough tooth there to support it.
There are three main types of Dental Crowns that we offer:
All Ceramic Crown
As the name suggests, all-ceramic dental crowns are dental restorations entirely made of a glass-like substance.
Metal Ceramic Crown
Are usually made of high content alloys of platinum or gold. Metal Ceramic crowns are ideal as dental material since they can withstand chewing and biting forces without breaking or chipping. However, the metallic colour is their main shortcoming and are usually an ideal choice for the rear teeth.
All Zirconium Crowns
These are made from zirconium metal. Zirconium has similar properties as titanium. The metal resists hot and cold temperatures and can be easily reshaped. During placing Zirconium Crowns requires a relatively small portion of the teeth to be removed.
At Stanley Dental Practice, our experienced dentists ensure all crowns naturally maintain the overall look for your smile and we take accurate impressions of your tooth to create a perfectly fitted crown that sits seamlessly alongside your existing teeth to make them unnoticeable.
